Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Kristina Olsen Design LLC, operating as Mothering Together ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Mothering Together application and website located at app.motheringtogether.space (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Who We Are

Mothering Together is a postpartum support companion operated by Kristina Olsen Design LLC. The Service is designed to provide informational and emotional support during the postpartum period. We are not a healthcare provider, and use of the Service does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

2. How We Handle Data by Account Type

What we collect and store depends on how you use the Service. There are three access levels:

3.1 Waitlist and Account Registration

When you join the waitlist or create a free account, we collect your email address. When you complete account setup, we also collect:

• Your preferred name and how you'd like Elle to address you
• Your pronouns (optional)
• Your baby's birth date
• How you gave birth (optional)

This information is used to personalize Elle's responses and is stored securely in our database (Supabase). We do not sell or share this information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3.2 In-App Content

When you use the Service as a registered user, the following content is stored on our servers:

• Conversations with Elle
• Mood check-in entries
• Physical recovery log entries

This data is used to provide continuity across sessions, power ElleMemory, and generate personalized insights (Elle+ only). It is not used to train AI models, sold to third parties, or shared with advertisers.

3.3 Sensitive Information

Some information you may share with Elle — including details about your mental health, physical recovery, birth experience, and pronoun preferences — is sensitive by nature. We treat this information with heightened care. It is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted to systems that need it to deliver the Service, and it is never used for advertising or shared with third parties without your explicit consent.

3.4 Payment Information

If you subscribe to Elle+, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details on our servers. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant and subject to their own privacy policy. We store only your Stripe customer ID and subscription status in order to manage your account.

3.5 Usage Data

We use Google Analytics to understand how users interact with the Service at an aggregate level. Google Analytics collects anonymized data such as pages visited, session duration, and device type. This data does not include personally identifiable information and is subject to Google's own privacy policy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.

4. Guest Usage

If you use the Service without creating an account, no data is transmitted to or stored on our servers. Your conversation with Elle exists only in your browser session. When you close the tab or navigate away, that session is gone — we have no way to recover it. The message gate for guest users is set at 5 messages per session, after which you will be prompted to create a free account to continue.

5. ElleMemory and Data Retention by Tier

ElleMemory is the feature that allows Elle to reference your prior conversations, mood patterns, and recovery history across sessions. How much Elle remembers depends on your account tier:

• Guest: No memory. Each session starts fresh.
• Free: Elle can reference content from the past 5 rolling days. Data older than 5 days remains visible in your personal history but Elle does not actively reference it in responses.
• Elle+ (paid): Elle has full longitudinal memory with no time limit. Your data is never deleted while your subscription is active.

Your mood logs and recovery entries are always visible to you in your personal history, regardless of tier. Elle's active memory window only affects what Elle references in conversation — not what you can access yourself.

6. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Deliver and personalize the Service, including Elle's responses
• Maintain session and history continuity across devices
• Power ElleMemory and generate insights (Elle+ only)
• Process payments and manage your subscription
• Send transactional communications (account confirmations, billing receipts)
• Send product updates if you have opted in
• Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the Service
• Surface crisis resources when conversation context indicates potential need

We do not use your data to train AI models, serve ads, or sell your information. We do not share personally identifiable information with third parties except as described in Section 7.

7. Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with the following third-party providers solely to operate the Service. Each is contractually bound to use your data only for that purpose:

• Supabase — database and authentication provider. Stores account credentials, profile data, and in-app content for registered users.
• Stripe — payment processor for Elle+ subscriptions. Handles all payment card data under PCI-DSS compliance.
• Loops (loops.so) — email communication provider. Stores your email address for waitlist and product update communications.
• Google Analytics — aggregate, anonymized usage analytics. No personally identifiable information is shared.
• Anthropic — AI provider powering Elle. Conversations are processed by Anthropic's API to generate responses and are subject to Anthropic's data handling practices. We do not use your conversations to fine-tune AI models.

8. Crisis Resources and Safety

Crisis resources — including the Postpartum Support International Helpline, the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline, and the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline — are always accessible in the Service regardless of account tier or session state. They are never gated behind login or subscription.

Elle monitors conversation context for language patterns that may indicate acute distress and will proactively surface crisis resources when appropriate. This is a safety function only and does not affect how your data is stored or shared.

9. Email Communications

We use your email address to send account-related communications (registration confirmations, billing receipts, and security notices) and, if you have opted in, product updates about Mothering Together. We use Loops to manage email communications.

We will not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes. You may unsubscribe from product update emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. Transactional emails (billing, security) cannot be opted out of while your account is active.

10. Analytics and Cookies

We use Google Analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage patterns. These cookies do not track personally identifiable information. You can control cookie settings through your browser or opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on. The Service may also set functional cookies or local storage values to manage session state — these contain no personal information.

11. Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

• Email address (waitlist): Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
• Account and profile data: Retained for the life of your account. Deleted within 30 days of a verified account deletion request.
• In-app content (mood logs, recovery logs, conversations): Retained for the life of your account. Deleted within 30 days of a verified account deletion request.
• Stripe payment records: Retained as required by Stripe and applicable financial regulations, typically 7 years. Card details are never stored by us.
• Analytics data: Retained per Google Analytics default retention settings (26 months). This data is anonymized and cannot be linked back to you.

If your Elle+ subscription lapses, your account reverts to the Free tier. Your data is not deleted — you retain access to your history, and Elle retains the 5-day rolling memory window.

12. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate personal information
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Export your in-app data (mood logs, recovery logs, conversation history)
• Opt out of product update emails at any time
• Request confirmation of whether we hold personal information about you

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at kristina@motheringtogether.space. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

13. Children's Privacy

Mothering Together is intended for adults 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at kristina@motheringtogether.space and we will delete it promptly.

14. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest for sensitive data stored in Supabase. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you have reason to believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at kristina@motheringtogether.space.

15. Changes to This Policy

We will update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. For material changes — including new data collection practices, new third-party processors, or changes to how sensitive information is handled — we will notify registered users by email and update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
